In 2000, after thoroughly researching alpacas, we (Randy and Jennifer Beck) established our 10.5 acre alpaca farm in  northern Indiana, just minutes from the Notre Dame campus. We are completely dedicated to raising healthy, excellent fibered, colored alpacas, and we would love to have you see our farm first-hand.

The mission of Once Upon A Farm Alpacas is to breed alpacas for the highest quality colored fleece with a strong emphasis on Black while never compromising health and conformation. We purposely maintain a small herd, 15 to 35 alpacas, to focus on quality and health.

We are committed to helping alpaca farms become more successful in their purchasing and marketing efforts. Randy, a CPA who specializes in corporate finance, will help you set up your own alpaca farm program, develop your marketing program, and organize/improve your finances.

Jen, who has been breeding and showing animals for over 20 years, will use her breeding knowledge to help you learn about the selection, care, and showing of alpacas. We invite you to use our experience and success to your advantage.

We enjoy sharing our farm and animals and want to introduce more people to the "alpaca lifestyle." Call us at 574/288-7699 or use our contact page to send us an email to set a time to come for a visit to learn more about alpacas or how we can help you start your own alpaca farm program.

Our farm offers the following:
  • Huacaya and Suri
  • Friendly Alpacas
  • Package Pricing
  • Financing
  • Boarding
  • ARI-registered Alpacas
  • Reproductive Guarantee
  • Live Birth Guarantee
  • Free Delivery
  • Support Before & After the Sale

The concept for Once Upon A Farm Alpacas originated from a trip to our (then) local town in Michigan to participate in a Pet Parade. Our son was just a baby at the time and we were going to have him "walk" our Irish Water Spaniel via stroller. The parade entries just in front of us were two alpacas. Jen immediately fell in love with the fuzzy creatures and Randy fell in love with the investment potential. After doing our research and moving to Indiana... Read the rest by visiting the "Our Farm" Link on the left.

In a short period of time, Jennifer and Randy have developed that much sought after "good eye" when it comes to evaluating alpacas. Their first cria took a First Place Blue Ribbon at the AOBA National Conference in 2002. Their breeding philosophy is constant improvement - for fiber, for color, for conformation and for health.

Jennifer and Randy will be providing award winning alpacas for the future of our industry.
