| Background:
Black Flame is a beautiful black herd sire chosen from an elite group of alpacas for his superior genotype. After an extensive search throughout South America in 1998, Black Flame was the only black Huacaya chosen from Bolivia to come to Alpacas of America standing as stud. He has great coverage, superior density and an average fiber diameter of only 18.5 microns. Having all of these incredible qualities, Black Flame is proving himself in the production of many fine crias. As of 2002, he is producing 98% colored crias, no matter what color the dam. In addition to black, we are also seeing some gray and rose gray babies. Talk about an all-around quality producer!
